Ron Paul Is The Undisputed Unscientific Poll Champion
By Max | October 23, 2007
Check out this video I saw today:
After watching this, I almost threw up in my mouth. Everyone at Fox News is a retard. Actually they are brilliant, controlling the opinions of many Americans. Stop watching this channel. It is beyond retarded.

Egypt!!
By Max | September 9, 2007
I am in Egypt right now on vacation. The last couple days I have been seeing the sights in Cairo, and now we are headed to Luxor to see the temples there and in Karnac.
Yesterday was a lot of fun. I got cheated a couple times by some vendors at the Giza pyramids. At least I got a camel ride out of the deal. If someone tells you that something is free here, don’t believe them for a second.
I’ll make a more detailed post when I return to the states and have more time. For now just sit back and relax while Penn State takes over the Big Ten and Michigan has its worst season in a century.

Everybody Loves Football
By Max | August 30, 2007
I just flew in to Oregon for work. I am excited to get the weekend started since its the first weekend for college football. I am a HUGE fan! GO PSU!
Tonight I am watching the OSU Beavers take on the Utah Utes. I would watch the LSU game, but they are destroying Miss. St. Its really too bad that most teams play cupcakes the first week of the year. My Nittany Lions are going to dominate Florida International. Are those guys even in Division I?

Free Money!
By Max | August 28, 2007
Ok everybody, here is my gift to you. I found a 1956 quarter tonight. Back then, quarters were made with actual silver. The current quarter is made of copper and nickel.
After I did a little checking on ebay, I found that actually silver in the form of old Washington quarters can be bought for less than their meltdown value. These quarters were produced between 1932-1964. Coinflation.com lists the meltdown value of a 1964 quarter at $2.11 today. A lot of these auctions are ending for prices of around $2/coin. Perhaps you’ll get lucky and strike a good deal. Be careful to wait until the day the auction ends before bidding, so you can be sure of the price of silver on that day.

How Much Is A Credit Rating Worth?
By Max | August 27, 2007
Yesterday, I was talking with a friend when I realized something. A credit rating has a value. I guess I never really thought about it before, I just had always assumed that I needed good credit.
We were talking about the current housing bubble, and how much home prices might drop in Phoenix where I live. There are a lot of people around here who have spent quite a bit on houses in the last couple years. If someone bought a $400,000 house with 100% financing and prices dropped by 25% (they’ve already dropped about 10% here), their house would be worth $100,000 less. Thats a substantial drop. The smart choice for a homeowner in this situation would be to just walk away. Even if the homeowner had a good job and good credit, and was still able to make the monthly payment, the smart choice is still just to walk away.
Why should person want to ruin their credit like that? Having a foreclosure in your past is a pretty big blemish. The reason depends on how much borrowing the homeowner plans on doing. Your credit rating is only worth the difference in interest payments you would have to make if your credit score dropped. Since after foreclosure, one can immediately begin rebuilding their credit, it would be rare that someone would save $100,000 by maintaining good credit. Since the homeowner already owns a house, there are very few opportunities besides starting a business that would offset the $100,000 lost by keeping the house.
This should be alarming to you. If everyone who bought a house in Phoenix with 100% financing in 2005 and 2006 was suddenly in this situation, many are just going to walk away. Its the smart thing to do. Subprime borrowers are just a small group compared to the potentially large group of homeowners who might just walk away. The results of something like this would be pretty dramatic.

All Of A Sudden, I Heard A Clatter
By Max | August 24, 2007
I live in an apartment and my bed room shares a wall with my neighbor. She is a cute Asian college girl. Last night I was woken up by her incredibly loud sex. I really thought the whole building was collapsing. Once I woke up a little I realized that she was just getting destroyed by some dude. I literally thought that her bed was going to burst through the wall, and land a couple of sweaty bodies in my room with me. It must have been a one night stand because I haven’t heard anything like this from her in the three months since I have been there. Also he must have been drunk because he lasted so long. At one point I thought about calling the cops to let them know of the abuse taking place next door.
Anyway, now its an arms race. I can’t let her know that I am going to sit idly by and allow this sort of behavior to continue. I’ve got to go out and do my part to get the loudest girl I can find to come back let this girl know who she’s up against.

Going For It On 4th And Long
By Max | August 20, 2007
I just read this article about the upstart UFL. Mark Cuban and some of his rich buddies have begun researching the possibility of competing with the NFL. Mark Cuban is a very smart guy and I know he has a lot of money. Previous efforts to compete with the NFL have failed because they weren’t implemented well or ran out of financing.
Check out what Mark has to say about this idea on his blog.
I think his 3rd point is really the only relevant one. Competing with the NFL could be tough, but if some really wealthy guys wanted to, competing with the NFL for talent would be relatively easy. Because of the salary cap in the NFL, an upstart league could easily outbid an NFL team for a top prospect because they would be limited by the salary cap. Unfortunately, the NFL isn’t dumb. They could quickly have an owners meeting to get around this problem if they needed to. Another idea would be to allow players to join the UFL immediately after high school. I bet more than a few would take them up on this deal since the NFL requires a player to wait several years after graduating.
I think the UFL should initially set their sights a little lower. No sports team is successful without fans. Competing with the NFL is great, but if the UFL isn’t focused on fans, they will fail. The obvious idea is to found teams in large cities without an NFL presence like LA or Portland. They definitely will do that. Going head to head against the NFL could be a mistake. They should start small and compete with Arena Football. The AFL has been around for almost 20 years. They now have TV exposure and are experiencing record attendance. They have been able to carve out their own niche in the sports world, and are largely successful with it. Mark Cuban should study the AFL closely and figure out how to mimic their success before tackling the NFL.
It can take years to build a fan base. If the UFL’s founders really want to form a successful league, they’ll focus on this as their primary goal. Once you have local fans, everything else will fall in to place. Then you can go after some of the bigger name college players and start competing with the NFL.
