Someone Found My Where’s George!
By Max | July 7, 2007
Yesterday I received an email from Where’s George. Someone has entered my dollar into the system. I spent it in Portland, but then it made its way down to California before someone else decided to enter it into the tracker.
I’ll keep you posted on where it goes next.
I’d like to get one of those stamps, so I can create my own where’s george dollars. Maybe I’ll spend one in Egypt and see where that goes.
Heres a picture of what a “Where’s George” bill looks like.

Fantasy Fest Photos - Now Thats Alliteration
By Max | July 5, 2007
Today I got my hotel reserved for Fantasy Fest 2007. Its probably going to be a dive since it was a lot cheaper than the other options. I don’t care. Its close to Duval, and as long as I can sleep there its good enough for me.
Here’s some pics, so you can get an idea of what kind of trouble I’ll be getting into.

Got to love pasties!

4th Of July Plans
By Max | July 4, 2007
I don’t have anything to do today. I really just want to relax. I have been doing a lot of traveling the last week and a half. Also I have spent the last two days stressing out at work. So today I am going to do basically nothing. I am probably just going to play some cards (won $250 last night) and maybe go to the pool to check out some girls.
I don’t want to go watch fireworks. Its always such a production to try to find parking and then weave your way through people trying to find a place to sit down and watch. Today is hereby declared a Max day! I am not going to do anything stressful.

TrustSpace.com
By Max | July 1, 2007
About 6 months ago, a friend of mine was discussing an idea with me about the issue of trust over the internet. These days on the internet people are interacting with more strangers than ever before. This makes it very difficult to prevent someone from defrauding you. Then this week I revisited the idea while I was buying a website. Sending a lot of cash to a complete stranger over the internet is definitely a leap of faith. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous about it at all. There should be an ebay feedback like system for the internet in general.
I think someone could make a lot of money by implenting a social network based on the trust issue. It would be like myspace but instead of connecting to friends, you are connected to people you have had some interaction with. For example, if you purchase a car from someone on craigslist you could log into ‘trustspace.com’ and check to see what other people who’ve transacted with the seller had to say. Then if your deal went well you could connect with the seller on trustspace.com and leave some positive feedback.
Instead of leaving comments for your friends like myspace, you would write up the details of the transaction and whether it was favorable or not. I think the webmaster community could really embrace a site like this since currently there appears to be so much fraud and overpromising. The internet is kind of like the wild west these days. Need a programmer for some small job? Search trustspace.com and see who gets good reviews.
A site like this would have huge potential.

The Best Restaurant In Portland Is Acadia
By Max | June 27, 2007
Tonight I am going to go to Acadia to enjoy some excellent Cajun food. Cajun cooking is my favorite by far. Its spicy and greasy and combines flavors perfectly. Acadia is a small little restaurant in Portland on NE 13th and Fremont.
I usually get the Pasta Jambalaya. I wish they offered a regular jambalaya for dinner, but the pasta version is very good. On Monday’s you can get regular Jambalaya. Its only $10. Thats perfect for a date. Take her out on a Monday. It’s cheaper and if the date doesn’t go well then you haven’t given up a weekend. (Pumping your date full of hurricanes will help ensure that things do go well.)
The last time I was there was for my friend John’s wedding rehearsal dinner. As usual the food was great. A couple people I was with got the pork chop. That looked really good, but I don’t know if I want to give up the jambalaya to order that instead. Its such a curse to have only one stomach.

Off To Portland
By Max | June 25, 2007
I am headed to Portland this week. I leave tomorrow morning way too early. I wish I had scheduled a later flight. Getting to the airport at 6:00am is not going to put me in high spirits. I am covering for some guy at work while he is on vacation, so I am going to be in Portland so that I can figure out how to do everything he does for the next couple months.

Photographing The Wildlife From My Window
By Max | June 18, 2007
I just moved in to my new place on Friday. Saturday I was looking out my window, when I saw one of these.

Unfortunately, my tiny cellphone camera could not capture a great image, but at least I can present proof that what I originally had thought was a rare sighting when I lived in Oregon is much more common here in Tempe.

Stinky Movers
By Max | June 16, 2007
Yesterday I had to move. As you know, Arizona is blazes hot in the summer. I think yesterday it was 110 degrees. I looked on Craigslist for some help which was the best decision I could have made given the circumstances. Carrying heavy furniture up and down stairs in 110 degree heat isn’t exactly fun.
The first dude I called was apparently in high school. He said he would give me a call Friday morning to work out the details since I was planning to move Friday evening. Friday morning came and went, but I didn’t get a phone call. I tried both of his numbers and gave him an hour, but still he hadn’t returned my call. I was going to pay him $70, but I guess inflation has been too high or something because when I was in high school, $70 for a couple hours of work was a goldmine too good to pass on.
After I decided that the high school kid, Dave, was likely flaking on me, I examined some of the other options on craigslist. I called a couple people and found two guys who could come by at 5:00. I have never hired movers before, but it was awesome. I didn’t do any heavy lifting. They definitely earned their money moving all my crap up two flights of stairs. The only complaint that I have with them is that they were really smelly. I don’t know if they had been doing some other work before, but those guys absolutely wreaked.

The Wingman’s Handbook!
By Max | June 12, 2007
There comes a time in every young man’s life when he has to step up to the plate and go to bat for his buddy. Yes I am talking about “grenade duty” or “wingmaning”.
A friend of mine sent me this quality handbook for Wingmen. If I were you I would print it off and pass it out to all your buddies.
