Max vs. US Airways – The Sweet Taste of Victory
By Max | August 28, 2008
I just arrived in Frankfurt. I can’t check in to my room until 2pm and my friend doesn’t arrive until tomorrow. They were kind enough to let me use their internet in the meantime though.
Yesterday, I got to the airport pretty early so I wouldn’t have to worry about missing my flight. They made an announcement looking for volunteers to give up their seats and fly out tomorrow since the plane was overbooked. Since my friend is flying out on the same flight tomorrow, I thought it would be prettz sweet for me to take them up on their offer and get a free international flight out of the deal. I waited around during the boarding of the plane and it turned out that they did not need me to fly out the next day. Since I was such a selfless volunteer, they also decided to bump me to first class!!!!!! This is only the second time I have been lucky enough to get bumped to first class. My seat fully reclined, the food wasn’t too bad, and I got my choice of 8 different bad movies instead of having to watch something truly awful with the coach passengers.
Now I am going to take a walk around Frankfurt and see if I can stay awake until my 2pm checkin time. There is a free tour here at this hostel followed by some sort of drinking event I want to make sure I am well rested for. If you’re ever in Frankfurt this place seems pretty convenient, located right outside the main train station.

Hey there, glad to hear you made it there and in style none-the-less… Looks like while the Eurorail may have beaten you, you definately won out against US Airways!!!! Glad to hear you are going to drink a lot of beer in a lot of places, that is my type of travel. Are you going to make it to London at all? If so I will get you the address of this small pub that is totally a locals joint and has the nicest people there, great place to grab a pint! Once I tried a local beer my favorite was this apple cider beer (because I definatly started out the trip drinking Corona in London… damn American!)
Well I hope that you have a blast, can’t wait to see pictures! ~K

Eric – I was wondering how to spell Fraulein.
Kasey – Funny you should mention that because I flew over here wearing a Corona shirt.
Truett – I guess they just saw us for the high roller potential that we have.
