Listasaurus Is Just Asking For Abuse
By Max | June 11, 2007
I ran across this site today. Its called Listasaurus and it appears to be an up and coming competitor to craigslist. They have an interesting promotion strategy of paying you $0.25 to list your item for sale. Why not? I don’t know how much traffic this site gets, but I wonder if there is a way to automate sales listings. It would be pretty sweet to get a few hundred up there quickly and walk away with $100. Just offer up a bunch of random items priced slightly higher than their true value. No one will ever buy them from you and you pocket a quarter for the listing. If someone does actually want to buy the item, run out to the store and pick it up, netting a couple dollars. This kind of system is just asking for trouble. I am sure they will be spending a lot of time cracking down on fraud.

I’m not sure if I ever showed you but I once had a used pencil up on NittanyAuction (your favorite free pen website) and the bidding got up to around $8 or so dollars until I had to just win it myself. I could easily come up with some random things to sell. I have a lot of crap that isn’t even worth a quarter.

What do you mean you had to win it yourself?

I just bid on it until I won so I wouldn’t have to produce a fake pencil that I made up.
