Tubing Down The Rio Salado
By Max | June 3, 2007
Today I went with Diana and a couple of her friends out to the Rio Salado (Salt River). There is a bus service that will rent you an innertube and drop you off at the top of the river, and then pick you up 3 hours later.
It was a lot of fun. The river seems to attract all kinds of people, and some of them are pretty funny to watch as they get loaded. I saw at least 2 girls flashing. One was trying to bargain for some beer, and another performed a courtesy flash to a couple firemen who were watching from the bank. I think firemen must have a lot of good stories. There were several policemen and firemen along the river to make sure no one hurt themselves. At one point I saw the police river boat roar by and pick up a guy on the bank who had passed out from too much beer and sun.
Pretty fun day…
PS. I think it was idiot night for online poker. I went up about $300 in 45 minutes tonight.

Where are the pictures? I am slightly dissapointed.
We have a lot of those same setups around here. Apparently there used to be a 6 pack per person limit but that law has been lifted. You have to love Texas!

I wonder how many people drown like this every year. It wasn’t uncommon to hear a new report about how some drunk fell from a boat on Lake Erie when I lived in NW Ohio.

When I used to go down the Toutle River in Washington, I heard a lot of stories of people drowning but it has a lot more rapids than the Rio Salado.
I think there are a lot of drownings because for some reason the river attracts a lot of dummies.
I don’t have any pics because we didn’t want the camera to get wet.

Perhaps people drown trying to get a good look at the flashers?
