Ron Paul - The Last Honest Man In Washington
By Max | May 11, 2007
I recently stumbled upon Representative Ron Paul while browsing the internet. He is running as a Republican candidate for President in 2008. Currently he is a Congressman from Texas. What I think is interesting about him, is his message. He seems supremely focused on adhering to the US Constitution. He wants to limit the role of govenment in our lives and push our country down a path to economic solvency.
He has an excellent track record in Congress voting against every tax increase and even opted out of the Congressional pension for himself. He is a really smart guy having graduated from Duke Medical School, and I think he’ll ultimately stick to his beliefs instead of bowing to special interests which I think is one of the biggest problems in our country.
Check out his video…

I’ve been reading Ron Paul’s weekly column, Texas Straight Talk, for more than a year now and it amazes me how consonant his beliefs are with mine. He is a strict Constitutionalist–if a vote in Congress passes opposed by a single vote, you can assume it is his. I specifically like how he is for a gold backed currency and how his wants to cut all of the pork out of government. He shined in his MSNBC debate against the other GOP candidates. He voted against the war with Iraq (if I remember correctly).
I remember that he once cornered Alan Greenspan and handed him a copy of “Gold and Economic Freedom” and asked Mr. Greenspan if he still believes what he wrote?

I like Ron Paul for two reasons.
#1. I share his positions on the real issues facing our country, financial solvency and interventionist foreign policy.
#2. As a doctor he is obviously a smart guy, and he votes the way he thinks is best. Most career politicians make policy for their big money corporate backers which hurts our government.
Fun Facts about Ron Paul:
* He came in third in the ‘88 presidential election as a Libertarian.
* He refused to sign up to take part in the Congressional Pension.
