Getting Into Shape
By Max | April 17, 2007
I finally got back into the gym today after I managed to not go at all during the weekend. Its weird that I have more trouble getting myself to go on the weekend even though thats when I have more time to actually go to the gym. It must have something to do with being on a routine (or drinking.)
I saw this piece on 20/20 or some other similar show where some retard (a personal trainer) decided he has the new exciting way to lose weight. According to him you don’t need to do any cardio at the gym, just spend the extra time strength training. He said he had completely cut out cardio from his gym routine and felt a lot better about his body and his clients’. They even interviewed a client and she said that the results were “amazing.” Then she went on to talk about how she was also eating 1000 less calories a day. Ridiculous… She could skip the gym entirely if she is eating 1000 less calories a day. I spent 40 minutes on the treadmill and only burnt about 400 calories. Thats burning a small sandwich. Losing weight is all about consuming less calories than you burn, and its far easier to eat fewer calories than to spend extra hours in the gym. Thats why this guy is an idiot. If a person maintained the same diet, they would probably lose less weight with just the strength training.

You should come up with the newest diet fad. The meat diet.

Ummm…That guy is a moron because if you don’t eat enough to maintain the muscles then your body will break down the muscle itself so it doesn’t completely starve(ie anorexia). Its unfortunate that you need no formal training to be a personal trainer, just go take a multiple choice test and pray like hell you pass. Disgusting.

You are absolutely right. I don’t know why people sign up with personal trainers at all. Generally they are full of bad advice.

Yeah your best bet is to seek the advice of a registered dietician, it’ll probably cost the same and you don’t have to see the person when you go to the gym.
