Cici’s Pizza Can Go to Hello!

The last two weeks I have been tormented by the incessant Cici’s Pizza commercials. I now live in Tempe, AZ, and I remember fondly my days as an intern in Raleigh, NC when I would pony up $3.99 for an all you can eat pizza buffet at fine establishment, Cici’s Pizza. But out here in Tempe, there are no Cici’s. There were a lot of Cici’s commercials however. It was driving me crazy. It was about two weeks ago, when I first saw the Cici’s commercial here in Arizona. (Do they even really need to advertise?) I immediately checked the internet to see if I could find a store locater on their website. Of course their site was down. It was probably overloaded by all the Arizonans rushing to their computers. “No problem,” I thought, “I’ll just check the Yellow Pages.” Nope. Not in there. I even sent google a text message to see what they would return. Foiled again. Not only did I not find any stores, but now I owe cingular another 15 cents.
That commercial really got me thinking about all you can eat crappy pizza. I was salivating. The next day at work I knew I would have to find something to satisfy the craving. Godfathers is down the street from my building, but at $6.75 they are kind of on the high end of crappy pizza lunch buffets, and only the shittiest crap was going to work for me. For those of you who have seen “Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle” you know what I mean. Luckily I found Peter Piper Pizza. I believe Peter Piper is a local chain. It was surprisingly reminiscent of Cici’s. It was $3.99, and they had a lot of kids playing video games. However, the Cici’s I remember had better selection, and even slightly better pizza. Or maybe that’s how I just chose to remember it.
So today I see that annoying commercial for about the 1000th time and decide to check out their website to see just how far I am going to have to drive or fly to satisfy my craving. There is a Cici’s right smack in the middle of Mesa, AZ. Thats only 10 miles from here. Hello Cici’s!
Interestingly enough, the same thing happened to me when I lived in Oregon. Sonic was airing commercials in Oregon even though there were no locations in the state. Recently a couple Sonic’s have moved in, but before they were wasting a lot of money on commercials advertising to people who had no idea where to even find a Sonic.

We have a ton of Cici’s. I ate there once and was so sick the next day I don’t think I can ever eat there again. Boo Cici’s. Yeah Pizza Hut buffet!!!!

I haven’t found a Pizza Hut buffet here. All the Pizza Huts I have seen around are the carryout joints. Boo. But you are right, if you want a top notch pizza buffet, the Hut is the way to go.
